My Favourite Photos of the Baltics to Inspire Your Next Adventure
The Baltic States – Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania – are, in my opinion, some of the most underrated countries in Europe. Nestled along the eastern coast of the Baltic Sea, they offer a wonderful mix of medieval charm, untouched nature, and a rich tapestry of history and culture.
From the fairy-tale Old Towns to the mist-covered forests and wild coastlines, the region manages to be both very accessible yet also wonderfully unexplored.
Riga is the largest and most cosmopolitan city in the Baltics. Here you’ll find leafy avenues lined with Art Nouveau buildings and vibrant street art. Hidden courtyards reveal funky cafés and bars serving up creative inventions.
But the magic of the Baltic States extends far beyond their captivating cities.
Take in the tranquil beauty of Estonia’s Lahemaa National Park. Here, pine forests stretch to the sea, and wooden boardwalks lead you through marshlands, with the silence broken only by the calls of distant birds.
Explore the dunes of the Curonian Spit in Lithuania, where sandy paths lead to breathtaking views over the Baltic Sea. Or discover the quiet charm of small Latvian villages, where traditions are kept alive, and life moves at a gentler pace.
This is a region that offers much more than meets the eye. The photos below capture just a glimpse of what makes this region so special. I hope they inspire you to explore this enchanting corner of Europe for yourself.

🚑 Do I need travel insurance?
YES! Never travel without adequate travel insurance. It’s just not worth the risk.
• SafetyWing – if you’re a digital nomad like me, SafetyWing is super flexible and affordable. You can sign up for as little or as long as you want, and activate and deactivate it whenever you need to. I’ve made several claims in the last few years and thoroughly recommend this company.
• World Nomads – for adventurous travellers, covers 200+ activities that many other insurers won’t, such as skydiving, heli-skiing, rock climbing, rafting, scuba diving, cliff jumping, and kiteboarding (not available for residents of every country – check here).
💻 Do I need a VPN?
YES! Always use a VPN when using public WiFi (in airports, cafes, hotels, stations, etc.). This helps protect your personal information and also bypasses internet censorship and restrictions in certain countries. I use NordVPN and highly recommend it.
