My Favourite Photos of Scotland to Inspire Your Next Adventure
Scotland is a unique place.
Its landscapes are wild and untamed, steeped in history and legend. Its people have a warmth that balances the ruggedness of their homeland.
From the jagged peaks of the Highlands to the soft rolling hills of the Borders, the diversity of Scotland’s scenery always leaves me in awe.
A couple of years ago, I drove the North Coast 500 solo. It was one of the most incredible road trips I’ve ever done.
I’ll never forget the otherworldly landscapes of Assynt, where bizarrely-shaped peaks rise abruptly from the moors and lochans (small lakes) that dot the land.
Sutherland, with its sweeping lochs and golden beaches framed by vast, empty skies, was majestic in its solitude and stark beauty.
Driving those winding roads, with hardly another car in sight, felt like complete freedom.
Torridon’s dramatic landscapes, peaks, and vast glens are a hiker’s dream. Standing at the top of a ridge, looking down at the mirrored lakes below, it’s impossible not to feel humbled by the scale of it all.
Wester Ross, with its remote villages and hidden beaches, feels like Scotland at its wildest.
Plockton is another fantastic hidden gem on the west coast. With its brightly painted cottages, tranquil bay dotted with fishing boats, and its balmy microclimate, it can feel almost Mediterranean on a sunny day.
The beaches of the Outer Hebrides, with their white sands and turquoise waters, could easily be mistaken for the Caribbean – if not for the brutally cold sea.
Sitting in a remote pub, fire crackling, with a dram of whisky in hand and a conversation that could last forever – there are few things better.
Scotland’s cities are just as captivating.
Exploring Edinburgh, with its medieval Old Town and elegant Georgian New Town, feels like walking through a living museum.
The climb up Arthur’s Seat rewards you with one of the best views in the country, stretching over the city to the Firth of Forth.
Glasgow, on the other hand, has a completely different energy – vibrant, creative, and always full of surprises.
Whether it’s the echo of bagpipes across the glens, the ancient standing stones of Orkney, or the sight of a red deer silhouetted against the evening sky, Scotland is timeless, iconic, and magical.
Here are some of my favourite photos from my recent trips to Scotland.

📱 eSIMs
Airalo is my favourite travel eSIM provider – I’ve used it in over 10 countries and really rate it. So much easier than buying physical SIM cards when you travel!
🚑 Do I need travel insurance?
YES! Never travel without adequate travel insurance. It’s just not worth the risk.
• SafetyWing – if you’re a digital nomad like me, SafetyWing is super flexible and affordable. You can sign up for as little or as long as you want, and activate and deactivate it whenever you need to. I’ve made several claims in the last few years and thoroughly recommend this company.
• World Nomads – for adventurous travellers, covers 200+ activities that many other insurers won’t, such as skydiving, heli-skiing, rock climbing, rafting, scuba diving, cliff jumping, and kiteboarding (not available for residents of every country – check here).
💻 Do I need a VPN?
YES! Always use a VPN when using public WiFi (in airports, cafes, hotels, stations, etc.). This helps protect your personal information and also bypasses internet censorship and restrictions in certain countries. I use NordVPN and highly recommend it.
