My Favourite Photos of Cuba to Inspire Your Next Adventure
Cuba has to be one of the most unique, iconic places I’ve ever visited. The classic cars, the music, the cigars, the crumbling pastel-coloured buildings, the timelessness of the whole place – there’s no mistaking where you are.
There’s nowhere else quite like it.
Nostalgic, optimistic, traditional, creative, and vibrant, the largest island in the Caribbean is true to many of its stereotypes. Exploring this fascinating country, I lost track of the number of times I felt like I’d walked straight into a postcard or a movie set.
“Wow, yes – Cuba really is just like that!”
But Cuba is also a place that’s full of contradictions. It’s a country that has been isolated from the rest of the world for decades, yet it is also home to some of the most vibrant and lively culture you’ll find anywhere.
Gleaming vintage cars and grand colonial buildings coexist alongside crumbling infrastructure and shortages of resources, including basic necessities. There’s a sense of nostalgia for the past, mixed with a desire for progress and modernisation.
The locals are proud of their unique history and heritage. But there are clear tensions between the socialist government and the people, many of whom still live in poverty and lack basic political freedoms.
Despite its challenges, Cuba is an incredibly beautiful, authentic country, and an amazing travel destination. I’d love to return and spend more time getting to know it even better.
The photos below capture just a few of the moments that made Cuba unforgettable for me. If you’ve never visited this extraordinary island before, I highly recommend it!

🚑 Do I need travel insurance?
YES! Never travel without adequate travel insurance. It’s just not worth the risk.
• SafetyWing – if you’re a digital nomad like me, SafetyWing is super flexible and affordable. You can sign up for as little or as long as you want, and activate and deactivate it whenever you need to. I’ve made several claims in the last few years and thoroughly recommend this company.
• World Nomads – for adventurous travellers, covers 200+ activities that many other insurers won’t, such as skydiving, heli-skiing, rock climbing, rafting, scuba diving, cliff jumping, and kiteboarding (not available for residents of every country – check here).
💻 Do I need a VPN?
YES! Always use a VPN when using public WiFi (in airports, cafes, hotels, stations, etc.). This helps protect your personal information and also bypasses internet censorship and restrictions in certain countries. I use NordVPN and highly recommend it.
